Curtains

There have been a lot of changes going on in our living room. It is finally decorated and not just a hodge podge of stuff from the Ellsworth house. The biggest update is the new custom curtain that Sarah Erwin did a fabulous job on! I wanted something neutral so we went with alabaster white linen. I love how they blend in but add warmth and texture to the room.

New Roman shade on the breakfast nook. Love the little ghosts that Brox made for Halloween:)

Magnolia

We had so much fun on our Waco road trip to check out Magnolia!  It was crazy busy with a line out the door for the store, overflow shed and overflow tent. Even though the crowd was crazy we still managed to score a bunch of good stuff and see Chip! (from the side, we were not about to wait in the hour long line to meet him)

The main store is adorable. Again, check out this crowd!

All of my goodies. The table is from Spice Village in Waco but everything else came from Magnolia. We will definitely go back when her new store opens!

Organization by Mom

I am really embarrassed to show this but this is the before and of our upstairs storage room. When we built the house I was so excited to have a room that was just for storage. When we moved it we just shoved stuff in there then it spiraled out of control over the last 2 years. When I needed to add something to the room I would literally throw it in and run. I didn't even want to look at how bad the room had gotten. Mom kept offering to help me then one day I casually said I would rather pay someone to do it for me and her and David took the bait!

They went to Lowe's and bought shelving, built it, took everything out of the room and even added decking to the attic so the baby stuff could be moved into a less accessible place.  You can't see it but on the right wall behind the door is where all of my Christmas decoration containers are neatly stacked. It looks amazing!

Love this Wal-mart find. So cheap and the perfect size for my party decor!

Sittin on the dock of the bay

Our life in the country just keeps getting sweeter. My grandfather's tank is right behind our house and provides a great scenic view from our back porch. A few days ago my uncle and cousin built a dock on the tank and tied up a cute little fishing boat. We love strolling down to the tank and throwing rocks off the dock. Brox will try his hand at fishing when it cools down a bit.

All American House

I feel like every house has a holiday it is really good at. For example our house in Lakewood was a Christmas house. So warm and cozy. I think I have decided that our house is a 4th of July house! So patriotic and designed for family, food, fireworks and fun!

New Hutch

I am soo excited about my new hutch! I have been searching for the perfect one for a few months but everything was to small and would look out of place on such a large wall.

The day before we left for vacation my mom texted me this hutch that she saw on Facebook posted by the Doves Next. I didn't really have time to go look at it since I need to pack but decided to call the store for measurements assuming it would also be to small. The lady I talked to told me it was made out of old pine barnwood and it was the most gorgeous piece she had ever seen. As soon as she told me it was over 7 ft tall I jumped in the car and bought it.

I am so glad my mom found this piece! It is absolutely perfect and well worth the wait. (thanks to my cousin Casey for picking it up and delivering it while we were gone on vacation :))

Welcome Summer

When I designed the bright white wrap around front porch for our house I didn't get the memo that it wouldn't be sparkling clean/straight out of Southern Living magazine on a daily basis. Boy does it get dirty and it gets dirty fast! I spent about 4 hours shining it up from top to bottom and it looks amazing! I went out yesterday and spiders were already back:( Oh well it is worth the continual cleaning.

Brox and I love to read books on the front porch swing in the evening.

Estate Sale finds

I have the best mom! She came over to show me her findings from a local estate sale and I loved everything she got! In my head I was thinking is this stuff for me or for her and she is just showing me. Sure enough it was all for me! I love that her and I have the same taste!

The large painting was done by a local artist who has passed away. It is of a small village in Czech Republic. I love that its original and has a story!

Wedding Planning Party

Kaitlyn and Rachael are getting married which is a great excuse to get the girls together for wedding talk, food and bubbly! Everyone is eating healthy so I kept it simple and fresh with flatbread pizza, salad, hummus and for a sweet treat a tiny bite of homemade dark chocolate mousse.

Vintage Market Finds

I went to the best vintage market this weekend!  http://www.vintagemarketdays.com
I ended up going Saturday and drug my husband and kiddos back on Sunday for round two.
Chair: $20
Plates: $3 each
Vintage linens: $40
Wood Duck: $10
Clock: $12

As soon as we built the house I added dinner bell to the list of items I wanted to find. I just imagined myself ringing it to call the kids in from playing outside. Found this gem for $20 at the vintage market.

 Great little farmhouse pillow

I am really tall so all of the cabinets in our house are very high. I didn't think about the issues it would cause while the kids were little. Oops! So know B has this great little ladder to use to wash his hands and he thinks its super fun!

Cute little stool for $20. Makes the perfect seat at our new island.

Kitchen updates

In our blueprints we allowed for area in the kitchen to have an industrial free-standing island. For some reason we never got around to having it built during the building process. We got used to the wide open space in the kitchen so I was really hesitant to add anything. Last week I finally decided to order a stainless steel island from a restaurant supply company and I love it! Its great to have another prep area that is so close to the fridge.

Before the island even came in I purchased another amazing cutting board from Hungary. Not sure what my deal is with cutting boards but I am fascinated with them.

Found this great stool at a vintage flea market and found the rug on http://www.ecarpetgallery.com. This is my new favorite rug place. Great prices and I love that it looks like it has been around forever.

Lowe loves have a cozy rug to sit on in the middle of the kitchen.

and Brox loves having a new place to eat his cereal. And I love having both of my babies in the kitchen with me!
